The Early Years Foundation Stage - Childcare principles into practice
There are four themes of the EYFS. These are important Principles and are the foundation for effective practice when caring for the development and learning of young children. The four themes are, A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments, Learning and Development.
- A Unique Child - All children are competent learners from birth. They can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
- Positive Relationships - From a base of loving secure relationships with parents / key person children learn to be strong and independent.
- Enabling Environments - The key to extending a child's development and learning is their environment.
- Learning and Development - All children learn and develop at different rates and in different ways. All these areas of learning and development are of equal importance and all areas are inter-connected.
EYFS - Early Years Foundation Stage - Six Areas Of Learning
The aspects for each area are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
- Communication, Language and Literacy (CLL)
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (PSRN)
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World (KUW)
- Physical Development (PD)
- Creative Development (CD)
