In this childminding setting I have a good knowledge of safeguarding children.

I have familiarised myself and keep up to date with any changes regarding safeguarding children.

It is my policy to inform Ofsted without delay of any allegations of serious harm or abuse by any person living, working or looking after children in this setting (whether the allegation relates to harm or abuse on the premises or elsewhere), or any other abuse which is alleged to have taken place on the premises and of the action taken in respect of these allegations.

It is my policy that I inform the local Safeguarding Unit without delay of any allegation of abuse (following the same criteria as above).

Should I have any cause for concern about a child in my care then I will document these concerns and follow the correct guidelines as above and also refer to the step by step safeguarding criteria.

When I document any alleged cause for concern I will ensure that it is written factually, as it is imperative that it is written exactly how it is said and not elaborated in any way. This documentation may be used as evidence in court and therefore needs to be 100% accurate.

All the children in my care are protected to the best of my ability. I will maintain this by attending regular refresher courses and keeping up to date with continuing changes. These courses are delivered by Sure Start and are easily booked over the phone.

All safeguarding issues will be kept in the strictest of confidence and appropriately filed away in the children's personal files, however should the local authority or police require any information then this will be handed over.
