Equality of Opportunities Policy by Sharon Taylor.
Back to: «Childcare Legal Requirements Policies and Documents.
In this childminding setting it is my policy to endeavour that the individual needs of every child in my care is met.
I do this by involving the children in the decision making, ensuring they are all heard and their thoughts and ideas respected. All the children in my care no matter what race, religion, ethnicity, cultural background, disability or gender are treated as equals in their own right and are actively involved in the childminding day.
I strongly encourage that the children in my care to take an active part in the planning the implementation of all the Early Learning Goals, no matter what their ability.
I do this by listening and observing each child individually, taking notes on what they have said and making sure their ideas are carried out.
I do endeavour to pass on information and work in partnership at all times. I ensure I take the time at the start and the end of each day to give parent/carer feedback on their child. I explain what activities they have undertaken throughout the day, how they have eaten and there general well-being.
Any child in this childminding setting who has a particular special need and who requires any additional support will have their needs met at all times. They will have work adjusted where applicable and they will be treated equally in their own right as every other child in the setting. Any child requiring additional support will be assisted by the designated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). This will be the role of me the registered childminder, and I will be expected to provide appropriate arrangements for reviewing monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of inclusive practices.
In this childminding setting we actively promote that all the children in my care respect one another and take into account each others needs and feelings. I do this by providing learning opportunities to encourage this, and also providing good practice myself, ensuring I make a good role model for every child in my care.
All the children in my care have opportunities to play and take part in all aspects of the setting, I actively encourage diversity. I do this by providing stimulating toys that promote this.
