At the Little Darlings childminding setting, it is vital that all the children in my care look upon me as a positive role model.

I will speak to the children on a 1 to 1 level making sure I have direct eye contact with the child. All the children in my care have good behaviour commended and are rewarded via special stickers etc. This gives the children a sense of self worth and importance within the setting. They react well to this and endeavour to continue to please. Positive praise is given continually in order for any negative behaviour to be minimal. However from time to time it is perfectly normal to experience some negative behaviour. I will deal with this by explaining to the child in a clear and appropriate way why the behaviour is unacceptable. Always ensuring that the explanation and tone is done on a level that as individuals they will understand. I will also enforce positive praise after talking to the child to encourage incentives for the child, setting targets and goals (star charts).

If any type of behaviour should happen on a regular basis and cannot be resolved with the above strategies then this should be noted and recorded stating the date and time. Any type of behaviour which may persist and give cause for concern I will inform the parent/carer.

I will endeavour to support the parents where possible and work in conjunction with each other to resolve the matter appropriately.

If however there is still cause for concern then the need of an outside agency may be relevant.

At no time will this setting condone any form of physical punishment or any form of inappropriate behaviour towards any child in this setting. Should this rule be breached immediate action will be taken.

Ofsted and the local Safeguarding Unit are to be informed of any allegations made against me/my household and the correct procedure must be followed. (Safeguarding criteria pack).

All behaviour management issues are to be dealt with by myself.
